Oh Shit! Not Again–Book Review

School Why did I pick a book from an obscure author?

22072011422Front cover – The name attraction… and the ‘National Best seller’ tag.

Back Cover – Awesome summary of contents. –>

Have you ever experienced what happens when a porn movie is mistakenly played in front of your grandma and the CD player refuses to stop?
OR
Have you ever experienced what happens when a mixture of vodka and soft drink is server to hundreds of people gathered for a party?
OR
Have you ever experienced what happens when you are conspired into a murder that you had merely witnessed?

Wish I’d listened to the smartasses who said ‘Don’t judge a book by its cover’.

I would like to tell ya that the book is more of a male ego trip of the author himself…juggling between 3 girls and his libido, but NO it does NOT deserve a proper review.

Why would an author wanna impart a traumatic experience to the poor reader? Maybe he’d thought he could be the next Chetan Bhagat with a movie to his credit? Now we all know who to blame. Disappointed smile

Anywho, bottomline : Never buy an Indian author’s work if it has a great blurb, awesome title and even if it’s on a 3 for 2 offer at Landmark.

Thumbs downThis book is a strict must NOT read (and I’m not doing negative promotions). In the end you’ll only say this : “Oh shit, NEVER AGAIN!” Shifty Also, the book’s done full justice to its name.

There you go, my book review.

Ciao~

PS: You owe me 150 bucks, Mandar Kokate ! Annoyed

H*d Vs B(K)*d

Disclaimer : This is a result of watching some boring Indian Cinema for the past few weekends. The author of the post(who’s all for the creativity *air quote*)would like to express her choler on the ape culture followed in most movie productions.

As I was watched Night-Out on TV,I mused why Indian Film Industry failed to interest me as much as the Big H did .What’s it that Hollywood has, that Bollywood doesn’t (I’m pretty sure the answer to this is a non-exhaustive list).

genre#1 on the list was the lack of genres in Indian cinema. As far as my memory fetches,I only remember seeing movies that had a blend of 3 to 4 of the genres(masala) like drama(family moments-watch Kabhi kush kabhi gham, you’ll see 😛 ),romance(hero & heroine) action (stunts by the villain who plans to woo the heroine) sprinkled with a bit a cheesy comedy(which could be a separate timeline on the movie).I feel that this coercion is majorly accountable for the débâcle. The one-many(1 movie->many genres) mapping methodology should cease if we are to improve.Compared to this,Hollywood flicks stick to  a particular(/minimal) genre(s) and beautifully finish the job.At the end of the movie you can’t help admiring the way the movie was made!

There’s no doubt as to which industry has the upper hand when it comes to creativity, awesomeness and the big bucks..

Before making absurd claims about Bollywood and it originality or its popularity compared to Hollywood. How about first coming up with an original name for Indian film industry?

Is Google Chrome worth it???

Why did Google create their own browser?
Many people are asking why Google released this Chrome browser, I mean aren’t they supposed to be supporting FireFox? Apparently Matt Cutts explains that the big G is trying to make the internet a better place for web surfers who will in turn do more web searches, which we all know will likely create more mindshare for Google.

Google has kept quiet with the release of Google Chrome up until a few days before it’s release. Direct competitors like Firefox 3 used social networks to set a Guinness World Record for the largest number of software downloads (8,002,530) in 24 hours, but was Chrome’s relatively silent roll-out successful?
Anyhow here’s my take on Chrome….
Reasons why I think Chrome is great:
Fast Browsing Speeds
Easy Transition
Slick Design
CPU & Memory usage

Why Chrome is not so great… yet:
Not many extensions
No cross OS versions
Security Vulnerabilities

I ‘ve been having hang-ups with the browser which made me chafe @ it.Not to mention the crash-sugar on top :/ ( Whoa Google Chrome has crashed.Restart now?? Ok Cancel – They definitely have a way of saying that 🙂 )

From what I understand, Chrome is an open source project. So you can study, compile, add features, distribute or even eat-it-for-breakfast if you so desire – my point being that I doubt Google is sending data to their servers to capture user behavior or you’d probably see a backlash from the tech crowd, which would not be good for Google.
Conclusion
Overall, I think Google Chrome is a superb browser and I’m anxious to see what new applications, and add-ons will be released. Sadly, not enough extensions limit the browser’s appeal, not to mention that Chrome is yet another browser thrown into the mix when developing websites (sigh).
